All about tattoo : from Sterilization to Aftercare

Before going for a tattoo you must know the ideal process of tattoo making so that you ensure yourself about the quality work of your artist. Every artist has his own style; however the process of tattoo making remains same. It goes as follows:

  1. Sterilization: it is the first and most important step prior to tattoo making that must be conducted properly by a tattoo artist. Sterilization is mandatory to prevent the transmission of blood borne diseases from one client to other as there are likely chances that the client visited artist before you have some blood borne disease virus in him. The artist must have an autoclave for tattoo equipment's sterilization.

  1. Before inking preparation: prior inking the tattoo on client's body, the artist must clean his hands with an anti bacterial solution, use a standard disinfectant to make the work area hygienic. He must then open all the tattooing equipment apart from tattoo machine which are generally single use. After this the area to be tattooed is shaved and washed.

  1. Inking the piece: There is a standard format of inking to give the tattoo a perfect finish. Firstly the artist should make outline of the design. It is made by a single tipped needle; thin ink is used for outlining purpose. After making outline shading is done and at last coloring is performed. After finishing the piece and gently cleaning it, artist must bandage it carefully.

  1. A complete after care: Before you left the tattoo parlor, artist will provide you with aftercare instructions. Proper aftercare is very important as a fresh tattoo is equivalent to an open wound. You should remove the bandage after 2-3 hours of getting the tattoo. Then pat it dry and use aqua based moisturizer on it.
